Welcome to my fabulous world of Tüt (rhymes with ‘foot’; an English slang word to describe a trinket, ornament, article, decoration or detail used to beautify your space)! An odd word, I know, but it’s the perfect term to sum up all of those little knick-knacks that we have around our homes that give us happiness.
My love for tüt started when I was a little girl and Hello Kitty arrived in my neighborhood store… I could not get enough of all of those cute little stickers, pencils, and stationary. It was my after-school treat to buy-a-little-Hello-Kitty-something… ah, small joys!
I think I also inherited this love for tüt from my mother… she is the only person I know who doesn’t just watch a movie for the acting or storyline… she is often more engrossed in ‘the cute coffee cup that was on the bedside table’, and ‘needs to have one immediately’! And when she DID manage to find one, it was like birthday and Christmas all in one.
I now get my tüt fix through ‘more sophisticated’ objects that I can put around my home. I love finding unique things for myself and for gifts, and launching this web-boutique is my way of spreading the tüt around and reaching out to fellow tüt-lovers!
I have carefully selected gorgeous goodies that all go together by room, so you can easily beautify your space with just a few little bits of tüt. I am so excited to have found such beautiful, creative, well-made products from these lovely craftspeople: knot and bow, hijirik, yorktown road, claire eccles, bold and noble, buzzabee, wontonlove, birchbark soap and joshua by oak.
May these bits of tüt become your ‘Hello Kitty stickers’… : )
special ‘Cheers, mate!’ needs to go to a few peeps… Lauren (hellakopter.com) for designing my logo (luv it so much I wanna eat it!)… Anna (stratuscoaching.co.uk) for coaching me through the steps it took for me to stop talking about it and just do it… Annie and Laura for being such great cheerleaders… Nick for supporting and loving me… my Macy for her excitement at helping mommy put tüt in boxes
